Why live and work in Lisbon this year (partner article)
Today, we’re sharing a commercial article for our partners at Careertrotter, in the hope that it might inspire some of our readers who want to move to Lisbon to live and work.
Looking for something to eat other than croissants and pains au chocolats? Why not try a delicious “pastel de nata” on a beach with crystal-clear water and hot sand?
Look no further, because we know exactly where you need to go…. Lisbon! In addition to Lisbon’s excellent restaurants and postcard-perfect scenery, you can also gain international work experience here. Read on to find out why you should live and work in Lisbon.
1.gain international work experience
As well as being a beautiful city to live in, Lisbon is also a great place to gain international work experience! More and more international companies are setting up in Lisbon and are looking for new employees, many of whom are French-speaking.
It’s the perfect opportunity to gain international work experience in a major city and enhance your CV! You’ll show future employers that you’re willing and open to new challenges (adapting to a new culture, a new environment and a new way of working). With these skills, you can set yourself apart from other candidates and boost your chances on the job market.
For more information, pleasesee our article entitled “Working in Portugal: offers, salaries, sectors”.
2.culture, sun and friends
Let’s face it, it’s much nicer to live in a city where the temperatures are high and there’s plenty to do. Imagine if, after a busy day at work, you could sit on a sunny terrace with your colleagues and enjoy a delicious Caipirão or Macieirinha. What more could you ask for? Another highlight is, of course, the Portuguese cuisine! Enjoy a bacalhau and drink a good Port in Lisbon’s affordable restaurants and cafés. To round off your day in style, take the famous streetcar or explore Lisbon’s colorful streets on foot.
Working in an international environment also brings the advantage of being in contact with an international team, with colleagues from all over Europe. It’s a chance to improve your language skills and build an international circle of friends. So you’ll never feel alone in Lisbon!
3. salaries and cost of living in Lisbon
We’re constantly asked questions about wages in Lisbon, such as “wages are low, will I have enough to live normally?”
At Careertrotter, we’re always honest so you’re never surprised, and yes, wages in Lisbon are low compared to, say, the Netherlands or France. This is offset by the quality of life, and by the fact that some aspects of the cost of living (such as restaurants, cafés and transport) are lower than in France, and in some cases you’ll have the opportunity to benefit from advantageous taxation
Formore information, please see our article entitled “Cost of living in Portugal: what budget do you need?
Finally, the main reasons why Lisbon is so attractive are its quality of life, the Mediterranean lifestyle and, last but not least, the many job opportunities available to French speakers.
So, are you convinced by Lisbon? Careertrotter offers a multitude of French-speaking jobs to help you make the most of your experience abroad and start a new adventure.
